An Ocean Poem

This amazing poem comes from my preternaturally smart twelve year old niece Elora. She rocks!

Sands of the Ocean

The sky blue ocean waves, rolling gently along …

undisturbed by the seagulls above.

The delicate waves, vacillating, like the rocking of a baby’s cradle

…

encountering the pure, white coastal sand.

Tiny grains are selected as tides fulfill their daily gravitational process.

The waves direct the silvery sand downward to meet the oceanic rocks and

their briny inhabitants …

settling on the creatures’ homes; the ocean rocks.

Tiny grains of crushed rock don’t have time to settle, for the ocean currents

soon thrust the sand back to the water’s surface to repeat this never-ending cycle.
